July 15: World Food and Music Fest

The City of Highland Park is pleased to announce World Music and Food Fest at The Lot (525 Central), Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 12 PM- 10 PM. With an incredible line-up of diverse musical acts and food and beverage vendors offering a myriad of cuisines, fest-goers are sure to experience exciting cultural traditions right in Downtown Highland Park.

 

Renowned international DJ Taz Rashid will emcee and spin throughout the day, kicking off the event (12-2 PM) with his unique blend of New World, House, and cosmic sounds. Surabhi Ensemble, a top finalist for the Chicago Reader's Poll for Best International or World Music Group, follows from 2-3:30 PM, combining music and dance to celebrate togetherness and cultural unity. From there, The Tossers, known as “the World’s Loudest Folk Band,” bring their Celtic punk to the stage (4-5:30 PM). Gego Y Nony, a Reggaeton brother duo, follow with their signature Latin Urbano sound (6-7:30 PM). Headlining from 8-10 PM is The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. This power group of six Grammy-nominated musicians fuses iconic New Orleans funk with an updated modern sound and electrifying bass. While The Lot offers ample seating, the dance floor will be packed!

 

On-site restaurant vendors will offer a variety of ethnic fare from Mexican, Mediterranean  and Venezuelan to Eastern European, Indian, Italian and more. Participating restaurants include BellaRu Catering, BWB Shakes, Cafe Dacha,  Judy’s, Max’s Deli, Michael’s Grill & Salad Bar, Pixca, Poke Burrito, Ravinia Brewing Company, Singh’s Kitchen, and Tamales. Libations will be available for those 21 and older!
