Sept. 30: Oktoberfest
The City of Highland Park is pleased to kick off the fall season with Oktoberfest at The Lot (523 Central) on Saturday, September 30 from 12-10 PM, celebrating seasonal fun for all in the form of beers, bites, contests and community.
This free event will showcase Chicago’s renowned authentic seven-piece German band Die Musikmeisters performing a diverse repertoire of German polkas, waltzes, marches, folk, audience participation songs, as well as favorite American swing and rock classics all day long. The event will boast a family focus from 12-4 PM with traditional Oktoberfest contests including a root beer stein holding contest, juggling, interactive dance and sing-alongs, and a Cirque Experience show team rolling in with gym and cyr wheels for two performances and the chance to demo!

Guests will enjoy German fare and beverages from local vendors including Café Dacha, Max’s Deli, Michael’s, Kabul Kabob, Pixca, Tamales, and Sugarcoated offering traditional soft pretzels with mustard dip and Obatzda (German beer cheese dip), spetzel, schnitzel, bratwurst, sausage, sauerkraut, potato salad, potato pancakes, cabbage dishes, pretzel shaped cookies and more!
Those 21+can enjoy Ravinia Brewing Company’s ‘Bier Garten’ as well as German wines from Lynfred Winery.
