Halloween in Highland Park

Just three weekends left until Halloween! Here’s what’s happening this spooky season in Highland Park:

Downtown Highland Park Trick-or-Treating: October 26, 3:00 - 6:00 PM
Enjoy trick-or-treating at participating Downtown Highland Park businesses, including special activities at Port Clinton Square and Renaissance Place. Stop by First Bank of Highland Park to pick up a free candy bucket, then trick-or-treat from store to store.

Ravinia District Candy Stroll: October 27, 3:30 - 5:00 PM
Visit participating Ravinia District businesses for trick-or-treating. The stroll also features a Guess My Weight Giant Pumpkin Contest!

Scary Skate: October 27, 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Wear a Halloween costume and skate with family and friends for a spooky night out at Centennial Ice Arena! Dress in costume to skate for free; skate rentals are available at the front desk. Registration not required; just drop in!

Halloween Railroad - All Aboard!: October 28, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Families are invited to stop in to the Library and watch model trains travel around the “Spookytown” tracks, decorated with Halloween scenes and figures. This Halloween-themed model railroad from the North Central ‘O’ Gaugers Model Railroad Club also features a special Thomas the Tank Engine track with Thomas, Percy, and Diesel. Kids are welcome to attend in costume!

Scary Miniature Golf: October 28 & 29, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Come out in costume and receive a free round of miniature golf! NOTE: Registrations can only be made 7 days in advance. Registration will be available online beginning October 21.

Ravinia Brewing Company’s Halloween Party: October 28, 8:00 PM

Costumes are required at Ravinia Brewing Company’s frighteningly fabulous 21+ party! $25 ticket

Madame ZuZu’s Presents Halloween Storytime: October 29, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Visit Madame ZuZu’s in costume for a reading of “The Most Haunted House in America” with author Jarrett Dapier!

Scary Stories to Tell in the Library: October 30, 4:00 - 5:00 PM

Join the Library as staff read a selection of their favorite short stories, or sign up to tell us about a scary encounter of your own!

City of Highland Park Trick-or-treating: October 31, 3:30 - 7:00 PM

Kids may trick-or-treat during official hours on Halloween, 3:30 - 7:00 PM. Please review safety tips with your little ones to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe celebration. Turn on your porch lights to show that you are welcoming trick-or-treaters.

The Great Pumpkin Smash: November 3, 4:00 - 6:00 PM

Stop by the Preserve of Highland Park for a fun pumpkin-smashing, target-throwing, composting event as we bid farewell to the fall season in style. Let’s turn those pumpkins into a bountiful harvest of composting fun and environmental responsibility! All the pumpkins collected will be composted – ensuring that the water and nutrients they store are returned to the soil.
