June 30: Beatles Night at Food Truck Thursdays

Calling all Beatles fans! Food Truck Thursdays in the Ravinia District in the City of Highland Park will transform into a scene from the 1960’s on Thursday, June 30, as attendees are invited to channel their favorite Beatle and come out dressed in costumes and ready to dance to favorite Beatles tunes played by Dr. Mark & The Sutures! The Beatles Bash will be held from 4:30 PM to dusk on Dean Avenue between Roger Williams and St. Johns Avenues and Jens Jensen Park across from the Ravinia Metra Station.

Beginning June 24, participating businesses throughout the Ravinia District will be giving out Beatles Yellow Submarine coloring pages for a special kids’ art display at the Beatles Bash tent across from the music area. Kids can complete a coloring page for a chance to win gift certificates to local Ravinia District businesses such as Abigail’s, Piero’s, Ravinia Brewing Company, Sally’s Nuts, State Farm, The Chunky Scones, Viaggio, and more! And when they hand in a completed coloring page on site June 30th, they will receive a pair of John Lennon-style glasses (while supplies last)! Kids should turn in their coloring pages at the Beatles Bash tent by 6:30 PM. Coloring pages will also be available during Beatles Night starting at 4:30 PM at the Beatles Bash booth.  Winners will be announced at 6:45 PM.

Don’t miss the opportunity to come out and groove to all your favorite Beatles tunes played by Dr. Mark & The Sutures all night long! Check out the food trucks along Dean Avenue for special Beatles-themed menu items. Alfresco diners are invited to come and enjoy various food and drinks from more than a dozen rotating food trucks including Aztec Dave’s, Billy Bricks, Chicago Lunch Box, Culinary Gangster, Da Pizza Dude, Fat Shallot, La Cocinita and Louie B. Fresh every week on Dean Avenue. Guests will also enjoy beer and wine selections from Ravinia District restaurants Abigail's American Bistro and Ravinia Brewing Company, along with sweet & salty snacks from nearby snack shop Sally’s Nuts. The Ravinia District’s new coffee shop Astra Coffee Roasters, located just across the street from Jens Jensen Park, is keeping their shop open until 8:00 PM on Thursday evenings.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs or dine at one of the many picnic benches in Jens Jensen Park while enjoying live music from 4:30-8:30 PM (weather permitting). Food Truck Thursdays runs through September 8 with two additional theme nights; New Orleans-style Mardi Gras Party on July 28, and Disco Dance Party on August 18, as well as a weekly eclectic musical lineup.
